Sunday Review: 'The Lincoln Lawyer'
'The Lincoln Lawyer' is a fun legal drama, out on Netflix.
We've become accustomed to certain stereotypes in law-based action series, and 'The Lincoln Lawer' includes most of them. A central character with personal problems and difficult family life? Check. A somewhat maverick approach to work? Tough and savvy sidekicks? Sharp suits? Check, check, check. Yes, this series, based on the book of the same name by Michael Connelly, packs it all in. Manuel Garcia-Rulfo stars as Mickey Haller, a laywer who runs his practice out of his Lincoln and assorted other vehicles. He unexpectedly finds himself with a host of new clients following a murder. We follow him as he chases around LA from courtroom to courtroom. The centrepiece, though, is one major case - a double murder for which tech genius Trevor Elliot (Christopher Gorham) stands accused. Can Haller, returning from rehab, turn things around in time to get the win he and his client so badly need?
