These newsletters are usually for more analytical pieces and original reporting, but sometimes it is nice to serve up something a bit lighter! So this week I thought I would share some of the shows I’m streaming at the moment, as well as what is on my “to watch” list. I’d love to hear from all of you, so the comments are open for all subscribers on this post, not just paid ones. Share your recommendations!
What I’m Watching
“The Morning Show”
“The Morning Show” is back for season three and obviously I’m watching it. If you have not seen any of it yet, the show is set in a US cable network with a focus on… the morning show and its presenters. I’ve only watched the first episode of season three and, while it is very silly, it is already a vast improvement on the mess that was season two. Stars Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon. Proper review to follow!

“S.W.A.T”
Want a mindless, but somewhat moral, cop drama? A show with some hot people and things that go bang that highlights important current issues? Well, “S.W.A.T” might be the show for you. It follows a team of LAPD S.W.A.T officers and manages to discuss some of the difficult topics surrounding policing in the US today alongside being a fun action show. I’m currently going through season one. Shemar Moore stars.
Watch on Now TV in the UK and Netflix in the US
“Slow Horses”
I just finished watching season one of “Slow Horses” and am preparing to jump into season two. This crime series is based on the books by Mick Herron and stars Gary Oldman as the… interesting… MI5 agent Jackson Lamb. Kristin Scott Thomas is also in the cast. It is dark, gripping and really cleverly done. One of the best things on Apple TV+.

“The Bold Type”
Technically I am not watching this any more as I binged the final episodes in a matter of days, but let’s not get bogged down by technicalities. I absolutely adore this show about three New York twenty-somethings making it in the world of fashion and magazines. As I put it on the blog - “Think “Sex and the City” if the main characters were all millennials/Gen Z and worked at Teen Vogue.”
Watch on BBC iPlayer in the UK and on Hulu in the US
“Family Guy”
This show is something of a staple for me. I just drop into it periodically and it is always great - perfect viewing after a hard day! Animated adult comedy about the Griffin family and their friends… do I really need to explain the premise?!
Watch on Disney Plus. (Some episodes are also available on ITVX in the UK.)
On my ‘To Watch’ List
Top of my ‘To Watch’ list is “Special Ops: Lioness” on Paramount+, a girl-powered action series. I’m also lining up season two of “The Lincoln Lawyer” on Netflix. I enjoyed season one but have had a chance to watch the follow-up yet.
